LTO 7 tapes have an uncompressed storage capacity of 6TB and a compressed capacity of as much as 15TB. LTO 7 tapes more than double the capacity of LTO 6 tape. Moreover, LTO-7 tape drive technology increased the tape head channel count from 16 to 32. This build up will provide a higher data transfer rate, leading to a discount of roughly 50% of the time to read or write an entire tape.
